Revolutionizing the energy industry one petal at a time!

Projects

Create and finance sustainable energy projects.

Blockchain

Sunflower leverages Blockchain's public ledger to increase the transparency of the energy industry.

Environmentally Safe

Sunflower promotes sustainable energy use through crowdsourcing solar panels.

The Application

Sunflower is an effective solution to provide affordable solar panels to the general public. Solar panels have been a great alternative to non-renewable resources but in order to deploy them effectively they must be available to the general public. Sunflower makes this possible by using the Ethereum Blockchain. The use of Petals, Sunflower's cryptocurrency, in conjunction with Smart Contracts and Distributed system will make solar energy available to anyone regardless of their financial situation or where they are located.

The Technology

Solar energy is a renewable solution to the global energy crisis but it is not affordable to the average American. Sunflower uses a peer-to-peer framework via Ethereum Blockchain which enables our users to buy and sell energy through our own cryptocurrency Petals. Petals allows users to purchase and auction energy with feasible prices and abundant energy. Open source APIs are provided to facilitate interaction with the energy grid. Solar power can be used directly during the day and power a battery that can store it during the night.

By centering Sunflower on the Ethereum Blockchain and using Smart Contracts, we connect the buyer and seller directly, eliminating any need for middlemen to interact in the transactions. The BlockChain interface has secure transactions so users can't cheat the system. Sunflower sells energy on the BlockChain and energy can be bought by kilowatt-hours using Petals. The investors can keep track of their installments by designating smart contracts to each one.

Cooperative Solar Energy Smart Grid

Sunflower is a platform that leverages crowdsourcing for efficient cooperation in the investment and construction of affordable solar panels. The community benefits from a cooperative solar energy smart grid because participation in solar energy is limited to upper class individuals due to the high cost of the solar panels. A 5 kW system would cost around $25,000-$35,000 and even this won't meet the daily energy demands of the average Americans. By allowing users to raise money together for solar projects and offering their property as a building site, anyone can invest and participate in solar energy.
